TiME

The realization of the finiteness of time came at night, somewhere halfway between Riga and Valmiera, as a participant in a 107 km long race walk on the night of March 25-26, 2015.

I was 35 that night, lost in my thoughts, I ran down a dark and lonely highway and realized that my father, who died when I was 6, was only 35 years young. At that time, I remember him as a cheerful person with everything ahead of him. I realized that my tomorrow is not promised, so the right time to do and follow my path is now. This realization about time made me reevaluate what I had done before, what was important at that moment, and make my own decision – to follow my own path again.

This is how the first ideas for a furniture collection called TiME or Time were born. As a reminder, symbol and dedication to the finiteness of our time and a call to realize the true value of time. A reminder to spend the time we have meaningfully.

A sand dune was chosen as the basic element, which transformed into an already defined function and materiality. When choosing the material, it was clear that it had to be oak – Latvia's most valuable and durable wood. A symbol of our longevity and stability.

The most direct reference to the hourglass is in the silhouette of the desk and the geometric aesthetic of the bench. The desk is designed with an hourglass silhouette, enhanced by a two-tone finish. The lower natural oak strip symbolizes the time that has already passed, the upper oak element – ​​the time that is still left.

The other items also retain the same elements of the collection to create a coherent composition.
